Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advisory Notice
With the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Australian Government has today implemented regulations forbidding non-essential indoor gatherings of 100 persons or more. This has resulted in the ceasing of performance work at all venues that provide our queens regular employment. On top of this, all non-regular gigs, that were booked for the next couple of months, have been forced to cancel. At the time of writing, no Government assistance has been announced for sole traders, small businesses (without a payroll), or the entertainment industry.
The well-being of our drag family is our top priority. This is not limited to the health and safety of our queens, but also to their livelihood. Drag artists, like most in the entertainment industry, do what they do for the love of performing and entertaining you. They invest huge percentages of whatever they make back into their looks and performances to ensure they are always bringing you inspired art. On top of the health concerns arising out of this extraordinary time, our incredibly talented queens now face unemployment.
We want to do what we can to mitigate this.
Therefore, over the coming weeks, we are planning to bring you fun new content from the Sydney Drag Royalty queens. We will also be announcing exciting new merchandise on Shop Drag Royalty - the profits from which will go to the queen featured on the product.
In doing this we hope SDR queens will provide you with a camp escape from all the worries caused by the pandemic. We hope that in turn you will dig deep to support our drag queens who have now lost their livelihoods. More information on the ways you can offer support is to come. Make sure you are following us on Instagram, Facebook, and are subscribed to our YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on the announcements.
Even in these challenging times, our community is very strong and available to support all those who make up the rainbow.
Glitter kisses,
Nathan & Jeremy
